Smoke Bear will be at Locust Lake State Park, Barnesville, amphitheater on Saturday. The program starts at 6 p.m. with Dave Duffy, first chief from the New England Fire Company, giving a fire prevention and campfire safety presentation followed by a visit from Smokey Bear. This program is free and open to the public. Shine only and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
OnAug. 12, conservation volunteer David McSurdy will present a program in the Locust Lake program shelter, located near the camp store, at 5 p.m. He will speak about different state native plants and how they can be used for medicinal reasons. The program will be followed by a short walk to identify some of these plants. The program is informative and family friendly. Shine only.
