A shed in Jim Thorpe was destroyed after it caught fire Sunday afternoon.
Vince Yaich, Jim Thorpe Deputy Fire Chief, said the department received the call around noon for a structure fire reported as a shed at 311 South Street."When we got there, the shed was fully involved," Yaich said. He said the fire was threatening the residence."The first crews there made a knock down on the shed, and the second crews pulled lines and protected the surrounding dwellings around the fire scene."Yaich said the fire was knocked down in about 10 minutes. There was no damage done to the house, but the shed was completely destroyed, he said. There were no injuries, said Yaich, who described the apparent cause."The apparent cause was the night before, they had a little camp fire in their yard, and yesterday morning, the property owner stated he went out and cleaned the ashes out of the fire ring they had and put them in a plastic bucket and in the shed," he said. "About two hours after they put them in the shed, we got called for the fire."In addition to Jim Thorpe units, Lehighton Ambulance also assisted at the scene, Yaich said.
