The Salvation Army of Tamaqua will host its fourth annual Kidz Karnival from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday in the North Railroad Street parking lot, across from the Tamaqua Train Station, 18 N. Railroad St., to demonstrate its commitment to the community, giving children and their families an enjoyable summer celebration.
The Kidz Karnival features carnival rides, games, food and a tour of the Salvation Army's Emergency Response Canteen Truck.The Salvation Army of Tamaqua assists more than 2,300 individuals in need each year thought a multitude of initiatives, including emergency financial assistance, food and nutrition programs, activities for children and older adults, recreational opportunities, counseling, spiritual development, music and arts programs and worship services. It has experienced a dramatic increase in demand for emergency services in recent years, which is a struggle due to diminished financial resources.The Kidz Karnival will help raise much-needed funding to continue The Salvation Army's efforts to serve the Tamaqua community. The Salvation Army of Tamaqua hopes to raise at least $15,000 through the event. Silberline Manufacturing Company of Hometown is the event's main sponsor, promising to match dollar for dollar the Kidz Karnival ticket sales and monetary donations up to $10,000.Ticketsare on sale at The Salvation Army of Tamaqua, 105 W.
