Starting next month, children who live in the borough of Lehighton can receive free swim lessons.
That's after Lehigh Fire Co. No. 1 donated $4,000 to the Baer Memorial Swimming Pool.Tom Evans, recreation director for Baer Memorial Swimming Pool, said the free swim lessons will get underway at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 7 at the pool.Evans said the lessons will be for children ages 3 on up, and that they may register at the pool office.The donation came from the Lehigh Fire Co. No. 1 social quarters small games of chance."It's a great thing for the community," Evans said. "It's awesome of the fire company to come up with this for the community."
