Man asks police for his drugs back

A Tamaqua man found in a semiconscious state, with a needle stuck in his arm, has been cited for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct.

Tamaqua police were on patrol at 3:45 p.m. July 1 when the officer saw a man slumped over at the gazebo at Depot Square Park. The man, later identified as Ronald Musselman, 33, had a needle in his arm and was unresponsive at first. When he realized a police officer was at his side, Musselman took out the needle and threw it into a shrub, ejecting the small amount of brown liquid that was still in the syringe. The officer conducted a pat-down search before transporting Musselman to the police station, finding a small white bag of powder in one pocket. When Musselman saw the bag, he told the officer he "forgot that bag of dope," then asked if he could have the heroin and his needle back. That request was denied.
