A Coaldale woman is being charged in the drug overdose death of George Dougherty, 25, of 11 W. High St., Coaldale.
Dougherty was found at 8:32 a.m. March 9, on a couch in the basement. His death has been ruled as due to acute fentanyl toxicity.Following an investigation, Coaldale Police learned it was Kayla M. Leibowitz, 28, of Third Street in Coaldale who sold and delivered the drugs to Dougherty the night before his death.Leibowitz and the victim communicated on the "Messenger" app on March 7 and March 8, while she was using the alias "Alanda McGinley."Dougherty then went to her home the evening of March 8.Leibowitz admitted the victim did heroin at the home and that he left with an additional two bags of heroin.Her statements were made during an interview with police on June 21.Coaldale Police have filed charges of drug delivery resulting in death, possession of a controlled substance, delivery of a controlled substance and criminal use of a communication facility and have secured a warrant for Leibowitz's arrest.Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to contact police at 570-668-6100 or 570-645-3060.
