Medical assisted treatment for drug addicts will be the topic of discussion at Monday'smeeting of STEP-Up Tamaqua. Representatives of Clinical Outcomes Group Inc., Dr. John Stefovic and Karen McCloskey, will present information on MAT, which combines behavioral therapy and medications to treat substance use disorders, including opioid treatment programs.

The presentation will begin at 7 p.m. in Founders Hall at Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette St., Tamaqua. Following the presentation, the STEP-Up committees will hold their regular monthly meetings.COGI is one of 45 organizations designated by Gov. Tom Wolf as a Center of Excellence designed to offer treatment to individuals with opioid related substance abuse. It is the only COE in Schuylkill County.STEP-Up is a program of the Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network and the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership.
