West Penn Township has been asked to make its website more transparent.
Resident Larry Stival told the township's board of supervisors on Monday that the names of supervisors, planning commission and zoning hearing board members are not listed on the township's website.Stival said that information should all be public knowledge.Supervisor Ted Bogosh concurred, and said, "It should be updated."The board instructed part-time township secretary Patricia Nothstein to update the website with the names of township officials and their titles.In a related matter, the board agreed to have Nothstein remove the Facebook link as well.Other actionThe board also• Hired Frederic Gimbi to open, close and clean the West Penn Park - Zions, at the rate of $10.30 an hour, with a maximum of 30 hours per week.• Agreed to purchase eight picnic tables from Highwood, Hometown, at the rate of $200 each, for a total cost of $1,600.• Agreed to send a letter of support for the Borough of Tamaqua Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program.• Accepted the amended South Tamaqua Coal Pockets flashing traffic lights agreement.• Announced that a Community Development Block Grant hearing to discuss funding for this year will take place at the board's meeting at 9 a.m. June 19.• Tabled the Heller Gas subdivision.• Granted a 30-day extension to the Hower minor subdivision plan.• Approved a request for parking and assistance by the Northwestern Recreation Commission's "A Night in the Country" event.• Announced that the Eighth Annual Senior Expo will be held on Oct. 17 at the Fairlane Village Mall, Pottsville.
