Several agenda items were tabled Monday night for July's East Penn supervisors monthly meeting.
A proposed fire tax, a "police proposal," and improvements for the social hall were put off for next month's agenda. The board of supervisors passed a motion for both Keith House of the road crew and Michael Hunsicker to continue on after their 90-day probation period.Supervisor Steven Heckman was absent from the meeting. The board agreed to advertise for an additional road crew member.Board Vice Chairwoman Deanna Cunfer updated the rest of the board and residents about the success of the township's annual free-cycle day held at the end of May."I want to give a big thanks to Steve Heckman for organizing the event," she said."We collected 91 tires, 102 televisions, 120 computers and electronics. The road crew really helped out with unloading. We did it as a not-profit event," she said.According to Cunfer, the free-cycle brought in $672 but will be paid out for the cost of the event."We have $96 in the good so far, but we haven't paid for the dumpsters yet. It wasn't a moneymaker, it was to collect stuff from ending up on the sides of the road," she said.Churchill and Friendship roads will be the next stretch of the township to receive repairs."We want to get the harder parts done. Friendship will need a lot of repair done to the base," Cunfer said. The board made a motion to accept the donated Cramer property, which extends from the railroad beds to the sand quarry.Chairman William Schwab said the property appraisal cost of $1,800 will be divided equally between the parks commission and general funds."It would include two-thirds of the parking lot that we don't own in front of the social hall door. We need the appraisal so the Cramers get the tax deduction," Schwab said.
