The Western Pocono Lions Club board of directors will meet at the Western Pocono Community Library at 7 tonight. All Lions are welcome.The Lions club has announced the two recipients of the 2017 scholarships presented to the graduates of Pleasant Valley High School. The winners are Paige Hinton, daughter of Randy and Tim Hinton and granddaughter of Lions Linda and Jeff Hinton. Paige will attend Cedar Crest College to study nursing.The second recipient is Mark Bartolacci, son of Margaret and Robert Bartolacci. Mark plans to attend either DeSales University or King's College to study to be a physician assistant.Eldred supervisorsThe Eldred Township board of supervisors will meet at 7:30 tonight at the municipal building in Kunkletown.Before the meeting, at 7:15 p.m., there will be a hearing on the proposed Agricultural Security Area modifications.PVEN eventsThe Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network's board of directors will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville.At 6 p.m. the PVEN volunteers will have a picnic.New TOPS siteThe TOPS (Take off Pounds Sensibly) chapter in Kresgeville meets every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and is moving to Salem-St. Paul Lutheran Church in Kresgeville starting Thursday. They will be held the second Saturday of the month, June, September and October. The classes will start at 9 a.m. and last approximately 1½ hours.The classes are free and composter bins will be available to purchase at cost. One lucky winner will receive a free backyard composter.All classes will be held at the Waste Authority facility in Blakeslee and instructed by a certified Master Gardener.
