Beltzville State Park June events

Beltzville State Park is offering the following public programs throughout June.

Friends of Beltzville: Walking Group, 11 a.m.-noon, June 8. Enjoy a free weekly walk through the park without the interruption of technology and children. Be sure to wear comfortable walking or hiking shoes, and bring water. Meet at the Environmental Interpretive Center parking lot.Friends of Beltzville: Garden Days - Connect with Nature, 9 a.m. June 12, and 6 p.m. June 21. The Friends of Beltzville State Park have established a butterfly/hummingbird garden, and are looking for environmental enthusiasts to help out. If you would like to contribute your help, learn about gardening, and enjoy the outdoors, grab your gardening supplies and some water and join the Friends.DiscoverE! Hide n' Seekers Summer Series No. 3: Pollinator Pals - Bats, Bees, and Butterflies, 10-11 a.m., June 17. Come out and join the park educator for this preschool series (children age 3-5) that explores nature themed stories, crafts, and outdoor experiences. Registration in advance is required. Kids that make it to every program in the summer series will earn their very own nature badge. Contact the park educator at RA-Nrspbeltenved@pa.gov for further information.Friends of Beltzville: National Pollinator Week Celebration Day, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., June 24. Celebrate the pollinators at Beltzville with lessons from the park educator on the beach, enjoy a reading of "The Giving Tree" followed by a coloring contest, and learn about the importance of trees to pollinators in a tree identification walk. Register for the program by calling 570-977-0614. The first 10 people to register will receive a pollinator-friendly 3-year-old redbud sapling.DiscoverE! Hide n' Seekers Camp Day Camp: 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m., June 27. Children ages 4 through 6 are encouraged to embrace the great outdoors by exploring, experiencing and enjoying the state park. Activities will include crafts, games, stories and guided walks, with kids learning all about insects, plants, fish, mammals and more. Participants who complete the camp will receive the Bureau of State Parks DiscoverE! badge and certificate.Batty for Bats: 11 a.m.-noon, June 30. Join Carbon County Environmental Education Center's Sue Gallagher for a fun program on bats. Learn all about these remarkable creatures of the night at the Environmental Interpretive Center Amphitheater. Bring a bag chair or blanket for seating.
