"Being involved taught me to manage my time and pushed me to keep my grades up."Version 4.0Fronheiser was able to take her high school experience and parlay that into a highly successful stint, a perfect 4.0 GPA at IUP."I felt a sense of fulfillment to get honored for my achievement after all the hard work over the years," she said."On commencement day, I had the honor of speaking at my department graduation. This was probably one of the best opportunities of my life. I got to speak from my heart and experience on behalf of my class who I have gotten to know very well over the past four years. I got to express my passion for my school and the interior design program and the amazing people I have met along the way. Truly a humbling experience."Fronheiser said she attributes her success to not only herself, but also her friends, professors and family."I have always been self-driven, but the few times things got too overwhelming, I would turn to my parents, who always seemed to know what to say to calm me down," she said."I also got very lucky with the people I met at IUP. My professors were always available and willing to help and go above and beyond. Additionally, my roommates and friends were always very supportive of me putting extra time into my work to achieve my goal. With a tremendous amount of dedication and passion for interior design, I was able to maintain and achieve my 4.0."While at IUP, Fronheiser received the Sutton Scholarship, and was a member of the American Society of Interior Designers, International Interior Design Association and IUP Student Co-Op Group Fitness Instructor.Chosen fieldFronheiser received her degree in interior design."Creativity has been a part of my life since a young age, and I knew I wanted to put those skills to use. I stumbled upon interior design and immediately felt a connection," Fronheiser said."Knowing I could impact people's lives through designing buildings seemed like a fun challenge for me to take on."She liked the close environment at a small school like IUP. She didn't think a big city school was for her."When I visited IUP for the first time, I just felt at home. It has a more down-to-earth and welcoming feeling that I could not turn down. All of the people were very nice, and I liked the idea of being near Pittsburgh. I knew IUP was the school for me as soon as I stepped onto the campus."While at IUP, Fronheiser said she got involved with group fitness and taught fitness classes as a part-time job, teaching spinning and Bodystep classes through the Les Mills International Corporation. She was also involved in two student interior design organizations: American Society of Interior Designers and International Interior Design Association which helped with networking.Next stepFronheiser said she knew post-graduation that she wanted to work on designing commercial spaces, as opposed to residential."That is the big question when I'm (at) design school: to go into commercial work or residential work," she said. "I knew for quite some time that commercial design was my goal, and I reached it."Fronheiser said she's accepted a job as an associate designer with DesignPoint, Bethlehem."DesignPoint focuses on designing senior living, health care, corporate, and hospitality facilities," she said. "I could not be more pleased with this opportunity."
