A report of a suspicious person stumbling along Third Street in Coaldale on May 3 led to charges filed against Mariah Lee Lewis, 24, of E. Hazard St., Summit Hill.
Officers asked Lewis if she needed help. She said she was looking for a friend at a house on Third Street. A routine records check turned up an outstanding warrant for her arrest, issued by the Carbon County Sheriff's Office after she failed to appear for a hearing, Before being transported to the Carbon County prison, Lewis was asked if officers could search her very large handbag. She gave permission.In the bag officers found five orange color pills in a plastic bag, eight empty packets commonly used for heroin and two syringes. When shown the contraband items, Lewis told officer she forgot they were in her purse.She was transported to the county prison.Coaldale police cited her for possession of misbranded pills and possession of drug paraphernalia.
