Northern Lehigh School Board recently approved the following:
• Katherine Farber as a high school Learning Support/Life Skills Support teacher, replacing Kris Ahner, who resigned, at a salary of $57,375, effective Aug. 21.• Teacher Rajeev Gupta completed the requirements per the collective bargaining agreement and is entitled to a salary increase for the second half of the school year.• Kyrsten Monteiro, elementary PK-4 and English as a Second Language, and Jessica Rodriguez, elementary PK-4 and English as a Second Language, as substitute teachers for the 2016-17 substitute teacher rates as approved on the Supplemental Salary Schedule.• Holly Carlson and Elizabeth Doll as substitute custodians for the 2016-17 school year at the 2016-17 substitute rate.• Authorized the superintendent to apply for an Act 80 Waiver for the 2016-17 school year for one full day to conduct additional in-service for staff development on Aug. 23.• Approved the co-payment amount for student-athletes receiving a sports physical from St. Luke's Sports Medicine during the 2017-18 school year at a cost of $15 per student.• A tuition fee of $30 per student for a one-week elementary summer band program, and a stipend for summer band program director Steven Jonkman, whose stipend will be equal to the amount collected for student participation, but will not exceed $1,000. The summer band program will run Aug. 14-18.• A contract between the district and the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit No. 21 to continue the Student Driver Education Program at no cost to the district, effective July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018.• Susanne Hegedus will attend the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Implementers' Forum May 16-17 in Hershey, with the cost of registration $75, lodging, travel, $41, and meals, $64, for a total cost of about $252, to be funded from the district's curriculum and Instruction budget.• Everly Kesack will attend the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Implementers' Forum.• Director Donna Kulp is treasurer for the 2017-18 fiscal year, effective July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018.• Director Kristie Wilk is secretary for the 2017-18 fiscal year, effective July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018.
