Rehrig seeks re-election to Lehighton council
Scott T. Rehrig is seeking re-election as a councilman in the Lehighton borough.
He says he is looking to retain his council seat so that he may continue to serve the borough by maintaining long-term relationships with local, state and federal officials. Through these long-standing relationships, Rehrig has been able to help secure public funding and grants for necessary municipal projects while keeping taxes as low as possible.Rehrig has proudly served as vice president of Lehighton council for 16 years and served for a total of 18."If re-elected, I intend to maintain and improve the borough services while attempting to avoid any tax increases. During my previous five terms, I helped secure grants for the fire company, police station, swimming pool and the public parks in the borough," he said.Rehrig has honorably served on various committees of the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs and currently serves on the awards committee. He is retired from the Pennsylvania State Police and is a proud combat veteran of Vietnam, serving in the United States Army.He has been actively involved on the Carbon County Hospital Authority, Lehighton Halloween Parade Committee, Lehighton American Legion Post 314, Lehighton Orioles Club, a life member of Lehighton Fire Company No. 1, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 38 and a member and past-exalted Ruler Of Lehighton Elks Lodge No. 128."I believe that downtown revitalization is critical and have assisted Jim Thorpe River Adventures in their efforts to open their business in Lehighton. I was instrumental in the extension of the Heritage Trail into the borough. I will continue to encourage downtown development through various committee workshops and networking," he said."It is my belief that a councilman is accountable to all borough residents and I pledge to be available and to follow up on any concerns, without biased or hidden agenda, brought to me by any borough resident or business owner."I am graciously asking for your support and vote so that I may continue my service to the borough and it's residents.
