Monroe man accused of stealing from employer

Charges against a Monroe County man accused of stealing money from his employer have been bound over for court.

Scott Madden, 47, of Stroudsburg, was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing recently before District Judge Colleen Mancuso of Brodheadsville.Madden faces charges on one count each of theft by unlawful taking or disposition, and theft by failure to make required disposition of funds received.Madden waived his right to the hearing and will appear for a pretrial status conference at 12:30 p.m. June 21.According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper George Kerrick of the Pennsylvania State Police:On Sept. 8, 2016, the representative from ProGrade Fireworks Superstore, came to PSP Fern Ridge to report that an employee had failed to make the required deposits at the bank.The representative said that upon inspection of the bank statements, he found that two deposits, one on July 6, 2016 for $27.13, and one on July 24, 2016, for $639.32 had not been made.He was able to find the end-of-day tally sheets for those two days and found that the employee that had been tasked to make these deposits was Madden.On Feb. 4, Kerrick spoke with Madden at his residence.After being advised of his Miranda rights, Madden said that he did not take the money, but would pay it back “to make it go away.”
