Yozwiak is running for a seat on Pleasant Valley school board

Donna Yozwiak has announced her candidacy for Pleasant Valley School Board.

She brings 41 years of total educational experience to the office as an AP/English/journalism teacher at Pleasant Valley High School for 20 years.She next assisted students as their school counselor for 18 years, specializing in career and technical and special education areas.She holds master's in education in secondary counseling from Marywood University, master's in secondary education, East Stroudsburg University, bachelor of arts in English and history from Wilkes University.Yozwiak's plan is to keep taxes low by advocating that legislators approve fair funding formulas, by negotiating fair and responsible employee contracts, by promoting academic excellence with increased credit requirements for graduation, by enhancing career and technical training with continued innovations and funding and by requiring that hiring of personnel rests on exceptional credentials and not local bloodlines.Yozwiak also ensures that public concerns will be addressed by the board with timeliness and transparency.Yozwiak has been a resident of the Pleasant Valley School District since 1976.Residing in Saylorsburg with her husband, Larry, they have raised three children who are each Pleasant Valley alumni: Dr. Nathan Yozwiak of Cambridge, Massachusetts; Andrea Yozwiak of Saylorsburg; and Ali Yozwiak of Bangor.Yozwiak volunteers at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Gilbert, and holds memberships on the Monroe Career and Technical School Counseling Advisory Committee, the MCTI Comprehensive Planning Committee, the Carl Perkins Funding Committee and the MCTI Diversified Occupations Advisory Committee.Yozwiak enjoys traveling to national parks, gardening, hiking and spending time with her grandchild and family.
