Lansford inductees are Boyle, Padora, Petko
The annual Carbon County Hall of Fame banquet will be held Sunday, May 28, at Memorial Hall, Jim Thorpe.

For children under 12, the cost is $15.Below are the biographies for the Lansford inductees:Dennis BoyleThis Lansford native was Valedictorian and President of the Class of 1966 at Marian High School, in addition to having outstanding careers in football, basketball and baseball.In football, Dennis was the starting quarterback and linebacker as a sophomore, junior and senior, and led the Colts to the co-championship of the Anthracite Catholic Football League in his senior year. In each of his three seasons, he received All Star recognition in the ACFL.He was recognized as Marian's Scholar-Athlete in 1965 and received offers from several colleges, including Delaware, Lehigh and West Point.In basketball, he was a three-year starter and in both his junior and senior years, the Colts qualified for the PCIAA playoffs.In baseball, he was the starting catcher for three years and batted .420 as a junior and .440 as a senior, when he ranked second in hitting in the region.In addition to receiving Marian's Scholar-Athlete Award, he was the recipient of the Outstanding Academic Achievement and Outstanding Athletic Achievement awards while graduating first in his class of 174 students.After graduation, he studied for four years at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, and then spent six years studying at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome, Italy. He served the Diocese of Allentown as a priest for six years and later received a law degree from the Temple University School of Law. He is currently a Senior Philanthropy Officer for the MedStar Washington Hospital Center in the District of Columbia.He is married to the former Mary McFadden. Their daughter, Maggie, is a U.SD. Naval Academy graduate and is a hospital administrator in Quantico, VA. A daughter, Maureen, is an oncology nurse at the Washington Hospital Center. Their special needs son, Patrick, works for the Center for Life Enrichment. They reside in Leonardtown, MD.David J. PadoraDavid J. Padora, a Lansford native, graduated from Panther Valley High School in 1967. As a freshman, he played baseball and JV basketball for the former Lansford High School. In 1964, the Panther Valley Jointure was formed. Dave lettered three years in basketball under head coach John Harkins and four years in baseball under head coach Vince Spisak.As a freshman at Lansford High, he batted .378 to come in second to teammate John Zubek, who took the batting title by one percentage point at .379. In his junior year, Dave was third in batting .452 but reigned as the slugging champion with 30 total bases, with two home runs, a triple and three doubles to attain a .714 slugging percentage. He threw right handed and batted left handed. When he wasn't on the mound pitching, he played first base. His best game came in his junior year against St. Clair, when he hit two long home runs and two singles in five trips to the plate, scoring three runs and driving in five.As a sophomore, Dave scored the first two points in history for the newly-formed Panther Valley Jointure in a basketball game played against Tamaqua. He is currently tied for fourth place on Panther Valley's all-time scoring list with 983 points in three seasons. In his senior year, the team went undefeated in the North Schuylkill League, going 22-0. They defeated Salisbury for the District XI Class B Championship in a game played at the Farm Show Arena, Harrisburg, eventually losing to Susquehanna Township in Bethlehem. Dave was selected by the North Schuylkill coaches for the Pottsville Republican All-North Schuylkill League second team and was named Honorable Mention Little All-State by the United Press International.Dave attended Albright College in Reading and played baseball for one season and tried out for the basketball team. In the basketball pre-season, he suffered a severe ankle injury that ended his season. After much thought, Dave decided to leave college and enlist in the United States Navy.He served in the Navy for four years as a Torpedoman 2nd Class aboard the SSN 667 USS Bergall Fast Attack Nuclear Submarine stationed in New London, CT. After his Honorable Discharge from the Navy, he attended Williamsport Area Community College for two years, studying plumbing and heating. In 1975, Dave started working for Air Products and Chemicals in Hometown, PA. After 37 years with the company, he retired in 2012.Dave resides in Lansford with his wife of 44 years, the former Ann Marie Hosak, also a 1967 graduate of Panther Valley High School. They are the parents of two daughters, Jacqueline and Jennifer, and have five grandchildren, Cassandra, Cole, Madison, Eli and Cy. His daughter Jennifer is married to Bill Maynard, son of Dave's high school teammate Bill Maynard, who is a 2013 inductee in the Sports Hall of Fame.Joe PetkoA three-sport athlete at the former Lansford High School, Joe Petko is credited with being among those who played major roles in the formative years of the Panthers' "Golden Age" of football.He excelled in football, basketball and track and field there before graduating in 1942.An outstanding running back, Petko and Alex Ferretti formed a very formidable running attack in 1941 and 1942, when Joe was an Honorable Mention All Stater.From 1940-42, Lansford had an outstanding record of 24-3 and Joe and his teammates helped to develop the desire, skills and leadership in their younger players that resulted in Lansford winning the 1943 Eastern Conference Championship and the 1944 Southern Division Championship.Joe was an excellent basketball player as well. In his junior year, he was elected co-captain of the 1940-41 team. The following year, he was captain of the 1941-42 team that was recognized at the end of the season as the best in the Panther valley area.Joe ran the 100-yard dash, threw the shot put and participated in the high jump on the Panthers' track and field team. These events exhibited just how versatile an athlete Joe was in that he had speed, strength and coordination that made his overall talents stand above the rest.
