Kathy Lendvay Fallow has announced her candidacy in the primary election for Palmerton School Board Director.

Fallow was born and raised in Palmerton, graduating with the class of 1968. She is the daughter of the late John and Mary Lendvay, owners of the former Lendvay's Market on Lehigh Avenue.Fallow was active in the Palmerton Marching Band, Concert Band and Glee Club. She was an honor roll student and received an Outstanding Senior in Music Award, having performed as a soloist, both in band performances and also in lead roles in Palmerton High School musicals.After graduation, Fallow went on to Penn State, where she graduated in three years with a B.A. in social welfare. She spent most of her adult life working as an instructional technologist, serving as a consultant to private companies and federal agencies. She moved back to Palmerton in 2013 and is now retired.Fallow's specialty was in the area of communication and change management - assisting organizations in the implementation and evaluation of new systems, while assisting workers to adapt to new ways of doing business. Change management often includes training sessions as well as group facilitation; working with employees having difficulty with change and helping them to work out solutions."I believe that my career experience has prepared me to deal with the frustrating situation currently facing Palmerton's school district. Teachers have now gone over 300 days without a contract. The community is disappointed with the inability of the board to finalize an agreement with the teachers. If elected, I will to use my career skills in facilitation and communication to resolve this stalemate within the constraints of a fiscally responsible budget."Leadership must foster open communication and collaboration among the board, the administration, teachers, students and the community.
