Preparations were underway on Wednesday for a Community Block Party to be held in Jim Thorpe Thursday through Sunday on North Avenue in the Heights section. The fundraising event will be held by the Jim Thorpe Community Athletic Association to benefit Sam Miller Field, which President Bill Highland and Vice President LeRoy Strohl said was established in 1946. The event will have live music each day, food, games of chance, and provided by Double M. Amusements of Lehighton. Hours are 6-10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 2-10 p.m. Saturday, and 2-8 p.m. Sunday.
