Schuylkill County commissioners opened bids Wednesday morning for 14 demolition projects, including ones in Tamaqua and Coaldale.
Commissioners will award the jobs at a public meeting after the bids are reviewed, perhaps as soon as Nov. 9.
The projects are funded through a $1.4 million grant through the state Department of Community and Economic Development. The county received the grant in January.
The Coaldale property is at 223 E. Ridge St. AMC Enterprise, Frackville, submitted a $39,447 bid; ADM Logistics Inc., Port Carbon, submitted a bid of $47,500; A.R. Dopple Construction Inc., Wilkes-Barre, $26,730; Smart Recycling Inc., $25,000; and Dudash Pipeline Construction, Pottsville, $33,333.
The Tamaqua property is at 252 W. Cottage Ave. There were no bidders for that project.
In other property actions, a public hearing was held, also on Wednesday morning, for people to share their opinions and ask questions about upcoming $1,081,201 in Community Development Block Grant community improvement projects.
They include phase three of a $114,889 stormwater project on Hancock Street in McAdoo; demolition of dilapidated buildings in Tamaqua for $26,333; bathroom and access improvements to remove architectural barriers in a public building for $61,447, also in Tamaqua; and $70,238 to rehabilitate two or three single family owner-occupied units in West Penn Township.
