A Monroe County man was jailed last week charged with attempted homicide.

State police at Fern Ridge identified the suspect as Leo Gardner, 47, of Stroudsburg.Police said Gardner and a woman were riding in a vehicle along Alpha Drive and Five Spring Road in Jackson Township, about 3:32 a.m. on April 26, when he attacked the female from Smithfield Township.During the struggle Gardner caused significant injuries to the face, neck and torso of the woman, threatening to kill her while attacking her, troopers said.Gardner was arraigned before a district judge on charges of attempted homicide, aggravated and simple assault and resisting arrest. He was committed to the county prison in Snydersville with no bail set. He has since been released from the prison for medical reasons.
