Tamaqua police are investigating the theft of a donation can from the counter at Shafer's Pharmacy, 11 Center St.

On April 19 a man entered the store and asked to use the phone to call a friend for a ride. After using the phone he tucked the donation container under his sweatshirt and left the store. The action was captured on video surveillance.The thief is described as a white man, thin build, with a shaved head. He was wearing a red zipper sweatshirt and had a red backpack.The donation container was clear plastic with a photo of a dog and the words Tamaqua Area Animal Rescue in large lettering. It was almost full and contained approximately $100 in cash.Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call police at 570-668-5000.
