Tamaqua Police filed charges against Terry R. Boyer, 60, of West Union Street, Tamaqua, after a domestic assault on April 11.

The Schuylkill County Communications Center contacted police after a 911 hang-up call from Boyer's home. Dispatchers were able to hear a woman yelling for help before the line went dead.When officers arrived, they found the front door kicked in and could hear loud voices coming from inside the home. Inside, they spoke with both people.The victim said Boyer kicked in the door, threw her to the floor, grabbed her by the neck and began choking her while pinning her to the floor with his knee. She refused medical treatment for the bruises on her neck.Boyer was arraigned before District Magisterial Judge Stephen Bayer on charges of simple assault, attempted strangulation and harassment.Bail was set at $5,000 unsecured.
