MMI students place at journalism competition

Four MMI Preparatory School students placed in the top four at the Pennsylvania School Press Association Student Journalism State Championships, which were held last month at Penn State University's University Park campus.

Joshua Narrow, of Hazleton, placed first in the Literary Magazine Poetry category, while Julia Snyder topped the field in the Literary Magazine Artwork category. Danielle Pileggi, of Albrightsville, received the State Reserve Champion title for finishing second in the Literary Magazine Artwork category.The mission of the Pennsylvania School Press Association is to promote excellence and responsibility in scholastic journalism through developing students who possess sound journalism skills, demonstrate ethical decision making and recognize, uphold, and advocate First Amendment rights through responsible citizenship and informed media consumption.Narrow is the son of Howard and Marie Narrow of Hazleton and Pileggi is the daughter of Daniel and Sandra Pileggi of Albrightsville.Jennifer Novotny serves as the faculty adviser for the competition.
