Abelovsky is running for seat on Lehighton council

Autumn Abelovsky is seeking a seat on Lehighton Borough Council. She is a 1993 graduate of Lehighton Area High School and a 1997 graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

While living in the Lehigh Valley for over 10 years, Autumn worked in the Health and Human Service Field. Her career involved facilitating case management representation through various networks, including the welfare of mental health programs, children and youth services, foster care, and inner-city youth. She married Troy, a corporal with the Bethlehem Township Police Department in 2004. They have two children; Landon, 9, and Reagan, 7, for whom Autumn became a stay-at-home mom. The couple chose to return to Lehighton and raise their children in the town she grew up in.Currently living in a household of four generations, family is the key factor in Autumn's decision to run for a seat on Lehighton's council."I have spent over 40 years hearing stories from my grandparents, about the rich history of this town. I am invested in keeping the traditions of the past in mind, while focusing on the present and future of Lehighton."Autumn and her immediate family live on North Tenth Street and share a property with her mother, Sherry Everett, and her grandparents, Arlington and Patricia Everett.Upon returning to Lehighton, Autumn sought out ways to give back to the community she was so fond of. Both she and her husband are active volunteers in their children's school, sporting and scouting groups.Autumn was a member of the Lehighton Sesquicentennial Executive Board and played an integral role in the inaugural Lehighton Community Christmas Celebration and Christmas Tree Lighting. She also currently holds a position on the Lehighton Borough Parks & Recreation Board and is working on bringing future events to the town.Several of Autumn's personal goals are connecting the borough to a broader spectrum of residents through social media, to enhance the borough parks in becoming more family friendly and inviting, and ensuring code and ordinance compliance through more structured enforcement.
