Blue Mountain Health System's Bariatric Support Team will host a bariatric health fair in lieu of its monthly support group meeting. The fair will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday in the third floor conference room at the Palmerton campus, 135 Lafayette Ave. in Palmerton.

Morbid obesity can lead to a number of life-threatening health conditions, including high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease and respiratory illness, such as sleep apnea. In addition, morbidly obese patients often experience orthopedic issues and even struggle to walk.The fair will feature a cooking demonstration, recipes, information about types of bariatric surgical services performed at Blue Mountain Health System, blood pressure screenings and more.Those who have had bariatric surgery or are thinking of having it are encouraged to attend. No registration is required.
