The Men of Marian's 27th Annual Chinese Auction will be held Sundayat Marian Catholic High School in Hometown.
More than $20,000 in prizes will be awarded through the generosity of numerous businesses, as well as the parents, friends and families of Marian students from throughout Carbon, Schuylkill and Luzerne counties.This year's event features a variety of large prizes, including a refrigerator, flat-screen television, washer/dryer, gas grill, recliner, lawn and garden package, propane gas fire pit, electric fireplace, patio set, kitchen assortment, and a restaurant dine-a-round to name a few.There will be a special drawing for a "faculty fortune tree," filled with gift cards and valued at $1,000.Doors will open to the public at 11 a.m. Sunday and "Polka Joe" Manjack will broadcast live from the high school from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The auction will start promptly at 2:30 p.m.A variety of homemade food items will be available.The auction has a goal of $20,000. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the students at Marian High School, for programs such as student insurance, transportation needs, financial aid, athletics and maintenance costs.Throughout the 2016-17 school year, the Men of Marian have committed to raising more than $100,000 for the school.For more information about the Men of Marian, the auction or any other program sponsored by the group, contact the Marian High School Development Office at 570-467-0641 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on school days, or 570-582-0021 after regular hours.
