Forty-nine acts are scheduled for this weekend’s telethon benefiting the American Cancer Society.
Acts include: singers, dancers, rock and blues bands and a karate demonstration. A Salute to Survivors segment is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday. During this segment, survivors are introduced and encouraged to talk briefly about their battle with cancer.Five area residents will be honored with Courage Awards during this year’s telethon benefiting the American Cancer Association airing April 8 and 9.This year’s honorees are Panther Valley coach Pat Crampsie, Mike Harleman of Palmerton, mother and daughter, Mary and Danielle Popek of Jim Thorpe and Lehigh Valley resident Mary Ann Grant.The presentations begin Saturday with Grant’s presentation around 5 p.m. The other presentations are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.This year’s telethon benefiting the American Cancer Society will again feature a Salute to Survivors.During this segment, survivors are introduced and encouraged to talk briefly about their battle with cancer.Salute to Survivors is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday. The telethon airs live from Penn’s Peak just outside Jim Thorpe.Anyone who wants to be part of the Salute to Survivors should check in at the front door of the Penn’s Peak auditorium by 6:30 p.m.More details will be announced later this week.
