St. Joseph's helps feed the hungry

St. Joseph's Parish of the Panther Valley in Summit Hill is following Christ's teachings and feeding the hungry.

During the past two weekends, the church hosted a food drive collection in honor of the parish's saint's feast day, which was March 19.Most Italian-American families celebrate St. Joseph's Day by hosting a table of bounty to show their gratitude to God. To keep with tradition, the church decided to share its bounty and help families who have fallen on hard times.Nonperishable and canned food items were collected during the March 11, 12, 18 and 19 Masses.Following the Masses, volunteers from the church boxed up the items and took them to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, where it will now be distributed.
