Ryan Saunders has announced his candidacy for mayor of Lehighton.

As an active member of the community, he has coached football, basketball and soccer for the Lehighton Booster Club and baseball and softball for Franklin Township.A proud member of the American Legion and Lehigh Fire, Saunders works with several local nonprofit organizations such as the Lehighton Pool Pals and the LDI (Lehighton Downtown Initiative) and helped plant trees throughout the borough with the U.S. Marine Corps for the Shade Tree Commission."I am running for mayor of Lehighton because I believe it's time we elect a mayor for the people again. We need a mayor who will be involved in our community and its events. Be heard from, recognized and not afraid to roll up his sleeves and work for our residents. I will work closely with borough council and build co-ops where we can address the concerns and issues of our residents and strategize with our local law enforcement to tackle drug crime."My goal is to unify the public, police, fire and local government to make our Lehighton borough better for everyone.
