Carbon County's prison staff will soon have a little better knowledge on dealing with people with mental health issues.
Warden Timothy Fritz, told the county prison board this week that Carbon-Monroe-Pike Mental Health/Developmental Services will be conducting free four 8-hour mental health first aid trainings at the facility in early March."It's going to give them a lot of help in understanding mental health and how to cope with these individuals," Fritz said. "Maybe give them a little more understanding that although they're (inmates) here, they're here for a reason and there are some underlying issues as well."Fritz said the 37 full-time corrections officers, as well as the sergeants, deputy warden and nurses will take the upcoming course.
