A vehicle stop by Jim Thorpe police led to charges pending against the driver and the passenger being jailed on an outstanding warrant.

Police said at 8:48 p.m. on Thursday police stopped a 1999 Jeep Cherokee along North Street for an equipment violation.While speaking with the driver, identified as Alexis Rae Soto, 21, of Chandle Drive, Blakeslee, police detected drug activity. A passenger, Alex Benton, 24, of Woodcrest Avenue, Effort, gave police a false name.Through further investigation police learned Benton's real name and that he had an active warrant for his arrest issued to Pocono Mountain Regional police. A search of the vehicle produced several items of drug paraphernalia.Benton was taken into custody and placed in the county prison in Nesquehoning on the warrant. Charges will be filed against Soto, police said.
