A controlled burn got out of control Saturday afternoon in Walker township. The incident began at 1:30 p.m. along the 800 block of Catawissa road.

Reports from the scene were a controlled burn was apparently spread by winds.

Fire companies from Walker township and New Ringgold responded to the scene. Smoke from the blaze could be seen for miles.

Water to fight the flames was drawn from a nearby pond. No injuries were reported in the incident.
