Lehighton middle school stages 'Annie Jr.' this week
"Annie Jr." will be performed by Lehighton Area Middle School Theatre at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the Lehighton Area High School auditorium. The snow date is Thursday.

lams.booktix.com.This iconic tale of Little Orphan Annie, with book by Thomas Meehan, music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin, opened on Broadway in 1977.Taking place in 1933, Annie (played by Hannah Smith, eighth grade) is a fiery young orphan who must live in a miserable orphanage run by the tyrannical Miss Hannigan (Jaiden Muffley, seventh grade).Her seemingly hopeless situation changes dramatically when she is chosen to spend a short time at the residence of the wealthy Oliver Warbucks (Christopher Jensen, eighth grade). Miss Hannigan's brother, Rooster (Roger Pomposello, eighth grade), and his gal, Lily (Ashley Beers, eighth grade), hatch a plot to impersonate Annie's parents in order to reap a reward offered by Warbucks.But in the end, Annie finds a new family with Warbucks, his secretary, Grace Farrell (Abigail Buffington, eighth grade), and her lovable pooch, Sandy (Jaclyn Troutman, sixth grade).The production is under the direction of Laura Welkey, with set design by Mark Welkey. Stage managers are Jamyson Cotterman (eighth grade) and Taylor Mickley (seventh grade), with stage crew direction by Beth Hudlow.
