Teen threatened to kill girl with knives

A Northampton County teenager is in custody after threatening to kill a girl with butcher knives.

Garrick Tomsic, 19, of Walnutport, faces charges of harassment and making terroristic threats.According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by patrolman Philip Mirabile of the Lehigh Township Police Department:At 8:32 p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to 119 Duke St., for a domestic call.Northampton County Radio reported that the offender, Tomsic, was seen leaving the trailer park operating a 2013 Honda Civic, and he had removed several butcher knives from his residence.Mirabile talked with Tomsic's mother, who said she found her son sitting in a vehicle in the early morning hours using methamphetamine with another man.Tomsic awakened late in the afternoon and began to yell that a girl was stalking him.Tomsic then kicked through a bedroom door, threw a television and a large fan across the hallway.He shoved his brother a couple of times during his fit of rage, and grabbed several butcher knives from the kitchen and carried them out to his vehicle, police said.He said he was going to kill the girl as he was carrying the knives to his vehicle.Tomsic told his older brother that he was going to Flagstaff in Jim Thorpe and acknowledged that there was a steep cliff there.Tomsic's mother told Mirabile that Tomsic had been using methamphetamine for several months.Mirabile returned to the police department and requested Northampton County Radio to place an alert for Tomsic, and also advised both Northampton and Carbon counties that Tomsic allegedly threatened to kill the girl. A crisis intervention delegate was also dispatched.The girl told police that she had a sexual relationship with Tomsic in the past, and ended the relationship when she discovered that he was using methamphetamine.Tomsic is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at a later date before District Judge Robert Hawke of Walnutport.He remains in Northampton County Prison in lieu of $5,000 straight bail.
