The helicopter that struck power lines while landing at St. Luke’s Miners Campus last week is owned by a national corporation that owns 450 medical aircraft serving 48 states.
The EC-135 helicopter was attempting to land around 3:15 a.m. on Dec. 29 when the incident occurred, according the Federal Aviation Administration.An FAA spokesman said the agency is investigating how the helicopter struck power lines while landing at the campus. None of the three passengers on board during the incident were injured.According to FAA records, the helicopter, which was manufactured in 1999, is owned by Air Methods Corp. of Colorado. Air Methods is a publicly traded corporation.In September, the FAA proposed fining Air Methods $892,500 in an incident involving another EC-135.According to a press release from the FAA, Air Methods, for a week, failed to replace an airspeed measuring device on one of their helicopters while continuing to fly.
