A crash on Route 209 is affecting traffic and electric service in the Lehighton-Jim Thorpe area.

Around 3:30 p.m., dispatchers reported that a vehicle had broken through a utility pole in the area of Route 209 and Beaver Street.

More than 2,000 customers in the Jim Thorpe area were without power as of 4 p.m., according to PPL. Power has been restored to the area.

Fire police shut down the because there are utility wires hanging over the roadway.

The crash is also affecting traffic in the area.
