Backing vehicle strikes teen in Monroe

A vehicle backing out of a parking space struck a teen pedestrian in Monroe County.

State police at Fern Ridge said the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. Nov. 30 in the parking lot of the CVS pharmacy, Effort, in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Joshua P. Marth, 27, of Effort, was backing his 1997 Subaru Impreza out of a parking space when he struck a 17-year-old female from Kunkletown, who was standing to the rear of a parked 2010 Mazda 3. The Impreza pinned a leg of the victim between it and the Mazda.The teen was transported to St. Luke's Monroe, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance for treatment of a minor injury, troopers said.
