A male driver was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a crash along Route 443 in Mahoning Township.

The crash occurred at 3:30 p.m. as he was traveling west about a half mile west of the Normal Square intersection. His car crossed the center lane of travel entering the east bound berm where it struck several trees before coming to rest on its roof in a wooded area.

The victim was found lying along the berm. The man was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics and transported to an area trauma center. Mahoning township fire police maintained traffic control at the scene closing down the roadway for about an hour. The Mahoning Valley fire company responded to the scene.

Mahoning township police are investigating the incident.
