The Tamaqua Area Middle School Music Department will present its annual holiday music program at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The concert will be held in the Tamaqua Area auditorium and features performances by the middle school sixth-grade band and the middle school select chorus.The sixth-grade band, under the direction of Marsha Rodgers, will open the concert with "Countdown to Christmas" by Joseph Compello. They will then play "Carol of the Bells," arranged by Larry Clark. "Invasion of the Christmas Crabs" is the band's next selection. The band closes the first part of the program with another Clark composition, "Jingle."The middle school seventh- and eighth-grade select chorus, under the direction of John D. Buglio, will begin the second part of the evening's program with "Angels We Have Heard on High," arranged by Lois Fiftol. The concert continues with the chorus singing "Heavenly Peace" by Sally Albrecht, followed by "Candlelight Canon" by Andy Beck.Breaking from the holiday theme, the chorus will then sing "All of Me" by John Legend.The concert will come to a close with the chorus singing "Someday at Christmas," made popular by pop icon Stevie Wonder.Accompanists for the middle school choirs are Antonetta Gerace, Faith Roberts and Maura Walker.The concert is free and open to the public. Doors to the auditorium will open at 6:15 p.m.
