State police at Lehighton have closed the file on a report in Friday's Times News that a Lehighton area masonry contractor is facing possible theft charges relating to his acceptance of a check for work he could not perform in a timely manner.
The police log item stated James Jay Didyoung accepted $3,000 in September to do work on an East Penn Township man's home, but he did not start the job.Didyoung was never charged in connection with the incident.Police said he returned the down payment to the property owner last week after the two parties could not agree on the time period to do the work. The return of the down payment, in effect, canceled the contract between the contractor and the property owner, and the matter was resolved amicably.
