Lansford to enforce meeting procedures

In response to several current issues, Lansford Borough Council will resume enforcing procedures for public participation at its meetings.

Anyone who wishes to make a presentation at a Lansford Borough Council meeting must notify the borough secretary, in writing, at least 24 hours in advance. This will also apply to reports, letters, requests, etc. targeted for specific meetings.Anyone wishing to speak about an item on the agenda will have a maximum of three minutes to speak.Restoring these procedures will streamline meetings, give residents a chance to share their concerns and provide council members the opportunity to timely address issues at hand.Residents should also be aware that Quality of Life Zoning Ordinance issues are being enforced, including the Residential Rental License and Inspection ordinance. Moving permits are required, as are permits for most projects. Residents may contact the code enforcement officer to see if such a permit is necessary before starting any construction, etc.Copies of the Quality of Life ordinance, which also regulates such issues as weeds, snow/ice removal, unregistered vehicles, trash receptacles, are available at the Lansford Borough Office, 1 W. Ridge St.For more information, stop by the borough office or call 570-645-3900.
