State police at the Lehighton barracks are investigating a burglary and criminal mischief incident that happened between 2 p.m. Sept. 18 and 2 p.m. Sept. 24 at a cabin in Towamensing Township.

The incident happened at a residence onSpruce Road in the township. The victim isfrom Palmerton.Police said unknown actors gained entry to the cabin by climbing a 10-foot elevated porch and going through an unlocked sliding glass door on the porch. They then opened the back bedroom window, it is assumed so they would be able to hear if someone would be pulling up the driveway, police said.They said the intruders unlocked the back door to the porch to leave the premises, after which time they noticed a Reconyx trail camera located approximately 10 feet in a pine tree, pointed to the front door. The burglars climbed the tree and smashed the camera into piecesand then removed the SanDisk SDHC card from it before fleeing the scene.
