Ten defendants in drunken driving cases who previously entered guilty pleas to driving under the influence charges where sentenced recently by Judge Joseph J. Matika in Carbon County court.
David Anderson Frangioudakis, 28, of Lansford, was sentenced to 30 days to 59 months in prison, consecutive Fridays to Mondays, starting Oct. 14. After the jail term he will be placed in the Intermediate Punishment Program with the first 60 days on electronic monitoring. He had his license suspended for 18 months, must render 100 hours of community service, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, and continue his outpatient treatment.He was arrested on Sept. 14, 2015, by Nesquehoning police along Route 54 when he was stopped for speeding. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Michael Andrew Helmer, 20, of Albrightsville, was sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in prison, startingOct. 7.He had his license suspended for one year, must render 25 hours of community service and must continue his outpatient treatment.He was arrested on March 5 along Route 903 by Kidder Township police. A test showed 0.08 BAC.James Edward Hunsicker, 49, of Nesquehoning, was sentenced to 72 hours to six months in prison, starting 10 a.m. Sept. 26. On a charge of firearm not to be carried without a license he was placed on 18 months of probation consecutive to the DUI term. He also had his license suspended for one year and must render 50 hours of community service.He was arrested for DUI on March 2 by Nesquehoning police along Allen Street operating an all-terrain vehicle. He also pleaded to one count of possession of a firearm without a license. A .357-caliber revolver was found on him.Andrew John Lipson, 28, of Albrightsville, was sentenced to 90 days to five years in prison (concurrent with a sentence he is serving in Montgomery County) followed by 18 months of probation, must render 100 hours of community service, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, and continue his outpatient treatment.He was arrested on Feb. 10 at Packer and Second streets by Weatherly police. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Charlene Moyer, 50, of Hazleton, was sentenced to 72 hours to six months in prison, starting at 9 a.m. Sept. 30, Friday through Monday, had her license suspended for one year, must pay $1,514 restitution, render 25 hours of community service and continue her outpatient treatment.She was arrested on Dec. 20, 2015, along New Street by Beaver Meadows police. A test showed 0.30 BAC.Jeffrey Orta, 36, of Albrightsville, was sentenced to six months probation, and must render 25 hours of community service.He was arrested on Nov. 20, 2015, along Route 1009 by Kidder Township police. A test showed 0.17 BAC.Derek Richard Reimiller, 32, of Weatherly, was sentenced to five days to six months in prison, had his license suspended for one year, must render 25 hours of community service and enter into a treatment intervention program.He was arrested on Dec. 20, 2015, along New Street by Beaver Meadows police. A test showed 0.16 BAC.Daniel Patrick Schultz, 54, of Margaretville, New York, was sentenced to one year in prison, with the first six months in the IPP, had his license suspended for one year, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, and must continue his outpatient treatment.He was arrested on May 1, 2015, by Kidder Township police along Route 903. He refused to submit to a blood test.Stephen Harold Trotman, 23, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, his license was suspended for a year, and he must render 25 hours of community service. On a summary charge he was fined $100 and costs.He was arrested on July 13, 2015, along Route 443 by Mahoning Township police. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance. Trotman was previously placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked from it for violating conditions.Charles Francis Weaver, 31, of Slatington, was sentenced to 72 hours to six months in prison, had his license suspended for one year, and must render 25 hours of community service.He was arrested on March 1 along Blakeslee Boulevard Drive by Mahoning Township police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.
