Rep. Doyle Heffley, R-Carbon, announced several outreach events throughout Carbon County for August.
Assistance will be available for local residents with veteran- related issues and those with concerns best addressed by the federal government.The Mobile Veterans Outreach Van will visit the 122nd Legislative District from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lehighton American Legion, 381 Bridge St.Some of the services available for veterans and their dependents include individual, group, family and bereavement counseling, medical referrals; assistance in applying for Veterans Affairs benefits; employment counseling; guidance and referrals; and alcohol and drug assessments.An American Legion outreach specialist will visit Heffley's Lehighton district office from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday. The office is located at 110 N. Third St., 2nd floor.Area veterans may seek assistance during those hours for information pertaining to specific benefits and programs by calling 610-377-6363 to schedule an appointment.In addition, Heffley will be hosting outreach hours for Congressman Lou Barletta, R-Hazleton, this month. A representative from Barletta's office will be at Heffley's Albrightsville district office from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday.
