State police at Frackville reported investigating at incident at 6:31 p.m. Saturday along Interstate 81 in Cass Township, Schuylkill County.
Troopers said Ean S. Starner, 23, of Boiling Springs, Cumberland County, and Hope L. Camp, 35, of Abingdon, Maryland, were both southbound. The front left wheel of Starner's 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 truck broke into pieces, causing him to steer toward the northbound shoulder. A large portion of the shattered wheel rolled across both lanes of travel. Camp was unable to avoid the wheel and struck it with the front of her 2014 Toyota Prius.Starner and four passengers and Camp and a juvenile passenger, were not injured. The Dodge had to be towed from the scene.Also on I-81, at 2:50
p.m.Thursday, Tianyu Zhang, 35, of Dorchester, Massachusetts, was driving a 2012 Hyundai Elantra southbound in Foster Township in the passing lane during a rainstorm when he lost control. The car went onto the berm and struck several trees before flipping onto the driver's side.Zhang was not injured. Troopers cited Zhang for the crash.
