July 27, 1944 - Toddy Bimler pitches a six-hitter to lead Mauch Chunk to a 3-1 Panther Valley League victory over Nesquehoning. Bimler tosses all nine innings, allowing three walks while striking out two. The winning pitcher also receives outstanding defense as "Woo" Leopold makes a key running catch with two runners on base in the seventh inning, and "Chiseler" Eberts turns a backhanded stab into a double play in the ninth to preserve the lead. Eberts collects three hits in the contest, while John Brosious adds two hits and a run scored.
