Carbon driver injured in Mahanoy Twp. crash

A Carbon County driver was injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 3:57 p.m. Monday along Route 54 in Mahanoy Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said Devon H. Horn, 20, of Summit Hill, was driving a 2013 Hyundai Veloster eastbound in the passing lane passing another vehicle during a heavy rainstorm.Horn lost control of the car which began to cross over into the westbound lane and then onto the berm where it struck a rock embankment.The car began to spin counter-clockwise across the westbound lane and continued over the double yellow line and back into the eastbound lane where it came to final rest facing south in the eastbound lane.Horn sustained an injury to his back and was taken by Mahanoy City ambulance to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale.The vehicle was towed from the scene.Troopers were assisted at the scene by volunteers from the West End and Citizens fire companies of Mahanoy City.Horn was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
