A Carbon County woman admitted to a drug-dealing charge while three others charged with drug-related offenses also entered guilty pleas in the county court on Thursday.
Judge Steven R. Serfass accepted the pleas.Sold to CITara Ann O'Brian, 35, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance - methamphetamine.A vice unit from the state police at the Hazleton barracks arranged a controlled buy from O'Brian using a confidential informant. The sale was made on Oct. 23, 2015, in Franklin Township. After the sale was made, police obtained a search warrant for the defendant's residence along First Street in Lehighton and found meth and various drug paraphernalia including baggies used in packaging drugs for sale and scales.When interviewed by troopers, O'Brian admitted the drugs found in the residence were hers.Serfass told her under state sentencing guidelines she faces a prison term. Serfass deferred sentencing and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.Other pleasOther defendants who entered guilty pleas to drug-related counts included:Nicholas Hunter Lambert, 30, of Weatherly, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.He was arrested on Feb. 28 by state police at Lehighton in the200 block of White Street in Weissport during a traffic stop. Lambert was a passenger in the vehicle.Serfass placed him on probation for a year and ordered him to get both a drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations and follow any recommendations for treatment and render 50 hours of community service.Jermaine Matthew Gonzalez, 23, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance - heroin.He was arrested on Aug. 21, 2015, in the300 block of South Avenue by Jim Thorpe police. Police were called to the area for a report of drug activity. Gonzalez was found with seven strips of Suboxone.Serfass sentenced him to time served (11 days) to one year in jail. He was ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.Gonzalez is currently serving a prison term for a probation violation which runs to Sept. 17.Cari Rose Nalesnik, 28, of Slatington, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance - heroin.She was arrested on March 17, 2015, in the700 block of Lehigh Street in Bowmanstown by state police at Lehighton. Troopers responded to a report of a disturbance in progress. A vehicle stop was made and Nalesnik was a passenger and found with the heroin.Serfass placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
